Track of the Week: Jim Bob ‘Thanks for reaching out’
Track Of The Week: The View ‘Neon Lights’
Track Of The Week: A Certain Ratio ‘SAMO’
Taken from their brand new album “1982” SAMO is inspired by New York City and in particular the cities early 80’s art scene and work of artists Al Diaz and the seminal Jean – Michel Basquait.
Jez Kerr on the Mute records website “The song is all about Basquiat and the birth of Hip Hop. We were lucky enough to be in NY around that time, and some of the lyrics in the song are the unique phrases SAMO sprayed around the city.”
For me , ACR are one of the top couple most consistent and interesting bands Manchester has produced over the last 3 decades or so. The wonderful new album 1982 continues that train of thought.
1982 is now available via Mute Records
