Track of the Week: Inspiral Carpets ‘Drag The Bag’
This week comes from the fresh new exciting band rising from Halifax “The Caymans” Classic Indie guitar sound, soaring melodies and a young band swagger in spades. The young Halifax band have the honour of being the first band from the Piece Hall Academy project. The single has been produced by New Order member Tom Champan who was keen to share his experience and guidance in the studio to record the single via his connections to the piece hall program. The brilliant video to the single and backdrop has been filmed at the iconic Halifax piece hall location by Carl Hunter of The Farm.
Luca Finelli, vocals and rhythm guitar for The Caymans said:
“Nowhere, NW” is the first song that we all wrote together in the same room completely from scratch and a turning point for a new way forward of a more hands-on approach to writing from all members of the band. “It’s a song we are all extremely proud of, we love it and we hope that other people find a connection with it and fall in love with it too.”
Euan Wilson-Youngman, lead guitar and lyricist said:
“The Lyrics in “Nowhere, NW” were written almost as a mantra, one that would expel doubt or anxiety. But once put with the music the song became about something else. It’s the band’s first step into a new direction, and a big one at that. This song was a chance for us to come out of our shell and show everyone what we’re really about.”
The single is released on Friday 12/6 via all the usual streaming sites.
They also have a big home turf gig on the horizon supporting The Wombats at the Piece Hall Halifax.
You can watch the video here ahead of Fridays release day.
